Got a rashy bum babe?
Finally, an alternative diaper rash cream. I made this for my babies after looking at the ingredients of the jar I grabbed at the grocery store in a moment of rashy desperation. I was already making homemade lotion, so I took it a step further and added non-nano zinc oxide and bentonite clay for a thicker, water repelling product. Through a combination of testing and trialing on my own three children, I now am confident in getting rid of a diaper rash pretty dang quickly, and I'll share my learnings here. However, please go to your baby's medical professional if they develop fever, are bleeding from the rash, or if the rash is not improving after two days. Rashy bum tips:
Give baby air time - no diapers, paste or cream for 10 minutes, 3 times per day.
Only use water for wiping (flannel cloths work well.)
Dry dry dry before applying cream (seal moisture OUT!)
Apply cream on THICK - like you’re frosting a cake - several times per day
No need to wipe off the paste after every poo - just rinse with water.
If they still have a rash after 2 days, consider swapping diaper brands or wipes, and consider the need for a medicated ointment.
